Our Kindergarten Chinese curriculum starts seeding students with what they can expect in Primary School to gain a head start from peers and approach the next year with confidence.
The curated combination of Hanyu Pinyin Introduction, Tell-A-Story and Sing-A-Song Sessions and Advanced Penmanship Practices provides the perfect bridge for preschoolers into the start of their formal education. From proper sentence construction to key reading skills, students will be fully prepared to tackle formal learning in Primary 1.
Hanyu Pinyin
- Master accurate pronunciation and tongue motions of basic Chinese characters
- Distinguish the basic pronunciations of Pinyin – a, i, o, u, Ü
- Join the basic pronunciations to form words – ba, pa, ma, ta
- Identify and practice the 4 intonations – bā, bá, bă, bà
- Build confidence in speaking Chinese
Tell-A-Story and Sing-A-Song
- Reinforcing the words and characters learnt in Preschool N2
- Further broaden Chinese vocabulary and word recognition
- Practice articulation and creativity with storytelling sessions
- Spelling tests with handpicked phrases from song lyrics
Advanced Penmanship
- Introduction of stroke counting for Chinese character writing
- Be exposed to writing difficult Chinese characters with higher stroke counts
- Gain a deeper understanding between the character structure and its meaning
- Practice short sentence writing
This course aims to cultivate the child’s interest in learning and speaking Chinese in a complete Chinese speaking environment. The child is led unknowingly into a comprehensive method of learning Chinese, from basic to intermediate levels, through fun games, singing, and arts and craft. The materials provided cover pronunciation, reciting, recognition of words, story-telling, phrases and short sentences.
Lesson time: 1 hour
Remark: A parent has to accompany the child throughout the lessons.
